How does Bitcoin compare with traditional markets?<\/h2>

This tool compares Bitcoin's relative performance<\/strong> against the S&P 500, gold and crude oil (WTI) over the last year. Every series is rebased to 100<\/strong> at the start of the window, so you can see who has gained or lost more, regardless of their price in dollars.<\/p>

It also shows the correlation<\/strong> of Bitcoin's daily returns with each market and with the VIX (the stock-market \"fear index\"). A value near +1 means they move together; near \u22121, in opposite directions; near 0, no linear relationship.<\/p>

What does "rebased to 100" mean?<\/h3>

Each asset starts at 100 on the first day of the window; every later point is its price relative to that start. So a value of 130 means +30% since the start. It lets you compare assets with very different prices on the same scale.<\/p>

What is correlation and how do I read it?<\/h3>

It measures how two assets' daily returns move together, from \u22121 to +1. Near +1 they tend to rise and fall together; near \u22121 they move oppositely; near 0 there is no consistent linear link. It is a statistical fact over the period shown, not a prediction.<\/p>

Why include the VIX?<\/h3>

The VIX gauges expected stock-market volatility (the \"fear index\"). Watching how BTC correlates with it helps describe whether Bitcoin has behaved like a risk asset or independently during stress periods. We only describe the figure.<\/p>

Where does the data come from?<\/h3>

Daily closing prices come from Yahoo Finance (no API key) for BTC-USD, the S&P 500, gold and WTI futures, and the VIX. Everything is computed live over common trading days; nothing is stored.<\/p><\/div><\/div>
