Word is one of the most used apps for office work nowadays<\/strong>. It\u2019s one of the main stars of the Microsoft Office suite and it let the user edit several aspects of text presentations. However, it\u2019s not a perfect app. Sometimes Word doesn\u2019t run and you find yourself unable to open your documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s important not to panic. In this article we explore some of the alternatives we can try when Word doesn\u2019t run. Configurations and tricks to make the program start and find the real cause of compatibility or running issues you can use easily.  Try them in order to see if the Word app works properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Word<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Word doesn\u2019t run, open Safe Mode<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Safe Mode<\/strong> lets you open different programs and system tools with a fast and basic file load.  It helps users to find the real cause behind apps that stop running. In order to activate the Safe Mode follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Right click on the Home menu and select Run.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Write the command: windord \/safe<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Click on Accept.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Click on File and select Options.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Select Add-ons \u2013 Manage \u2013 Go.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Disable OneNote Notes about Word Documents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Try running Word again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Repair Office installation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Word is one of the most popular apps of the Office suite<\/a>. In case Word doesn\u2019t run correctly you can use the recovery tool integrated on the Office installation. Do the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. Open Home menu \u2013 Settings \u2013 Apps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Click on Installed Apps and select Microsoft Office.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Click on the contextual menu (three dots icon) and press Modify.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Confirm the permissions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Select Fast Repair \u2013 Repair.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Wait for the process to end.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. Open Word again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Restart the Word process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Another solution if Word doesn\u2019t run is trying a restart of the whole process<\/strong>.  Restarting the program may solve some internal problems Word may experience with its own processes. First you need to open the Windows Task Manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Locate the Word process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Click on End taskto shut Word down.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Restart Word again to see if the problem is solved.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Repair Word from System Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        If the local services<\/strong> are not working, Word may not open properly. You can disable local services temporarily until fixing the main problem. In order to do so:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Type msconfig in the search box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Click on System settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Open the Services tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. Unmark the Hide all Microsoft services box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        5. Click on Disable all.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        6. Press Apply and Accept.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        7. Click on Restart.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        8. Check out that Word starts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Run Word as Administrator<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          The last alternative if Word doesn\u2019t work<\/strong> is running the app as Administrator. Sometimes, this level of access solves problems with different Windows apps. Follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
