YouTube is one of the most popular apps<\/a> around the world and children watch it a lot. It\u2019s a good idea to prevent children from overexposing to YouTube and you can do it by setting limits in your phone<\/strong>. It doesn\u2019t matter if they watch childish videos or gameplays. It\u2019s important to limit the time they spend in front of the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not only dangerous for children sight<\/strong>, but it\u2019s also a distraction for other hobbies and games for their age. To prevent children from spending all day in front to YouTube you need to offer them alternatives, but also set limitations directly on the devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Limit YouTube time on your phone and prevent children overexposure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

YouTube doesn\u2019t include settings for time limitation<\/strong> unlike other apps like TikTok. So the user has to stop watching YouTube on his own volition. However, you can set notifications for long activity periods. If you want to prevent children from using YouTube you can set Android or iPhone apps to automatically stop the app by force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Android devices<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. Open the Settings app.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Go to Digital welfare and parental control.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Select App limits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Search and click on YouTube.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Select app timer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Choose the time limit for YouTube.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    In iPhone devices<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    1. Open the iPhone settings menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Go to Screen time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Select Apps Limits and include YouTube in the list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Choose the daily maximum time for the app.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Use YouTube tools<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      YouTube includes its own mechanisms to limit use time but indirectly.  It\u2019s more a notification system that advices the user for taking a break after long sessions. It can also notify the children of bedtime. You can prevent children from spending too much time on YouTube by teaching them to respect the notifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
