Coinbase trading futures

Coinbase Advanced opens 24/7 trading of BTC and ETH futures and expands its derivatives portfolio

The addition of continuous trading on Coinbase Advanced marks a first for those trading cryptocurrency derivatives in the US.

According to the exchange’s announcement, BTC and ETH futures contracts can now be bought or sold at any time, every day, overcoming the previous restriction of trading only from Sunday to Friday.

This gives US users greater freedom to adjust their positions whenever they see fit, reacting swiftly to market fluctuations. Additionally, in the coming weeks, Coinbase will enable the same continuous trading window for SOL and XRP futures, expanding the exchange’s overnight and holiday offerings.

New Coins and Commodities Available on Coinbase Advanced

The contract offering has expanded beyond the major tokens. Those seeking to diversify can now find futures on SOL, XRP, ADA, and HBAR, as well as traditional commodities such as silver, natural gas, gold, and oil.

The company announces that it will soon add stock indices to its derivatives catalog, so those looking to add equity benchmarks to their portfolio will soon find that option.

To fine-tune operations

To streamline the flow of funds and position management, the system automatically moves excess balances to Coinbase, Inc., preventing idle capital from being unnecessarily blocked.

An algorithm also rolls over positions that reach their expiration date, so that the user barely notices the transition. TP/SL and TWAP orders have been added, and will soon allow limit orders to be edited after they have been submitted. To ensure the financial health of each account, a specific indicator has been created that signals the possibility of liquidation in advance.

It’s worth remembering that the derivatives exchange pauses its operations every Friday between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM (US Eastern Time) and adds a three-hour maintenance window every quarter. Outside of those intervals, the clock never stops at Coinbase Advanced: the trading day remains live regardless of whether it’s a weekend, early morning, or a holiday.

Coinbase to open in San Francisco

Separately, Coinbase has signed a lease for 150,000 square feet of office space in San Francisco’s Mission Rock development.

This move marks the company’s return to the city after abandoning its headquarters model about three years ago.

The new space, located at 1090 Dr. Maya Angelou Lane, will be Coinbase’s largest single office. San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie welcomed the news, and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong responded by noting that there is still work to be done to improve the city, despite acknowledging the mayor’s efforts.
