Google launched the new update for Android 16 Pixel and it introduces several features. The new Android update is compatible with all 6th generation devices and onwards. Artificial Intelligence is the most important feature but there are several updates for all kinds of users.
Android 16 Pixel Drop is part of the quarterly strategy of updates from Google. It’s an important change with updates from the past, because Google finished the operating system update cycle before introducing changes. Now the new features arrive periodically.
Changes in the Android 16 March Pixel Drop
- The following is a list of all the new features in Android 16 introduced by the March Pixel Drop. These changes will first be available for the Google Pixel device family, and then other manufacturers will also receive updates.
- Google brings the Samsung Galaxy S26 update to all Android devices to make your phone able to identify multiple objects in one image. It’s excellent to make outfit choices on the go.
- Once you have found the clothes you want, you can use the Virtual Fitting Room if the store allows it. It’s a feature in development since Pixel 10 and it’s only available in USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, Australia and India at the moment.
- The next step in AI development has arrived to Google. Now Gemini can perform tasks for you, from an order to your pizza shop to the creation of a social network post. And all Gemini tasks can be perform in the background.
- Google messages are more intelligent now. The chat assistant will give you all kinds of information without you having to get out of the chat at all.
- Google Now Playing feature to learn what you are listening expands. Now it’s an independent app for every Smartphone and device with Android support.
- The Google Pixel block screen until now gave you information about weather. Thanks to the new update you will also see real time information about sports, stocks and other topics.
- In the new Android 16 Pixel Drop update you can create up to 5 different icon styles using AI. Then you can customize your screen in depth.
- Google confirmed the arrival of icons, GIF, sounds and background images based on SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon series.
- More countries now include the feature that identifies and registers phone numbers associated to scams and frauds.
- Google debuts with a new desktop mode allowing several windows at the same time. You can use a Google Pixel 8 and onwards to turn your phone into a full desktop computer experience.
- You can use different apps at the same time in several floating windows from your Pixel Tablet.
- Comfort filters
- These filters work as a new setting to attenuate bright tones and lesser color saturation to avoid visual fatigue for Pixel 10. It’s an excellent option for long sessions in front of the screen.
- Another new feature in the Android 16 Pixel Drop update includes the DSLR cameras and webcams connection through USB. You can directly connect these devices for live broadcast or recordings from several angles. Besides the Smartphones and tablets updates, Pixel Drop also announces changes for the Google Smartwatches.
Advanced
You can now use double pinch and wrist rotation in Watch 4 and 3 models. These controls will allow you to make calls, activate the camera without touching the screen or control your music player.
Pay your bills by rotating and putting your watch near a TPV terminal. You don’t need to open Google Wallet in Pixel Watch 2 and newer models.
You can use your Smartwatch to immediately find your phone when you are away. It also blocks your screen automatically.
A new app for Wear OS that locates devices and lost objects directly from your wrist.
Real time news about nearby earthquakes.
This is a special emergency feature via satellite for Pixel Watch 4 and it expands the coverage to Europe, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.
Not every update is part of the Pixel Drop from March, but Google highlighted the apps in order to allow Google to share real time locations. It’s also working on a new tool for group chats with our contacts.
